Motorola Inc. announced on 10 July, 2009 that it had appointed Mohd. Rauf Nasir as its new country president for the Motoorola group of companies in Malaysia effective from 1 July, 2009.

As president, Mohd Rauf will lead the Malaysia team to further strengthen Motorola’s business presence in Malaysia as a key employer, a trusted technology partner and as a long term investor.

He will also be Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions (EMS) Malaysia Systems sales director where he will  oversee its sales to the government and public safety sectors.

The Motorola EMS government and public safety business provides mission-critical and business-critical solutions ranging from two-way radio communications products and systems, wireless broadband solutions to an array of mobile computing devices for the government and enterprise segments.

Motorola Inc is known worldwide for its innovation in advanced communications, including in broadband communications infrastructure, enterprise mobility, public safety solutions, high-definition video and mobile devices.

With over 30 years presence in Malaysia, Motorola Malaysia has established itself as a leading manufacturer of high technology wireless communications solutions and accessories for the global market. It's operations include a world-class Integrated Manufacturing, R&D and Distribution Center and a corporate and sales office.

Prior to joining Motorola, Mohd Rauf headed the ASEAN Telco Center of Excellence at IBM Malaysia and was responsible for the expansion of IBM’s business throughout the ASEAN region. He was also the General Manager, Communications Sector of IBM in 2006 for three years where he led a team of sales professionals to expand IBM’s offering to the telecommunications sector which has resulted in achieving a triple-digit growth of company’s revenue. His most significant contribution was securing one of the largest IT outsourcing deal from the telecommunications industry in Malaysia.

He was also a Certified Sales Professional, an elite sales group within IBM awarded to outstanding top achievers in recognition of their excellent performance and completion of an executive program at the Harvard Business School.

With over 19 years of experience in the IT industry, Mohd Rauf has previously held several management positions in the sales division serving various industries such as the public sector, healthcare, government, defense and communications.

Mohd Rauf began his career in 1990 as a System Engineer with IBM Malaysia. He worked in that role for five years, then moved on to oversee sales for the last 14 years. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from New South Wales University, Australia.
