Telekom Malaysia or better known as TM said that it is in the process of deploying the High Speed Broadband Network (HSBB) within the next six months.

During a press conference at MyBroadband '08 Conference & Exhibition, its group chief executive officer Datuk Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa said “I don't think TM will have problems with funding, we believe we will be able to raise the loans without difficulty,”.

Datuk Zamzamzairani also added that a HSBB community task force has been set up and all the Internet Service Provider (ISP) are involved in this task force.

In the mean time, when asked by Comm & Tech Asia on the term “Best Effort” used by most of the ISPs, the Minister of Energy, Water & Communications, Dato' Shaziman Abu Mansur who was present at the press conference commented that “ If they (customers) request for 1Mbps then they must get 70% of the speed, 90% of the time, we (the Ministry of Energy, Communications and Multimedia) don't like the telco using the term “best effort,”.

The Minister added “Hopefully by next year, this will be enforced,”

The MyBroadband '08 Conference & Exhibition took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre last week, in conjunction with ACM:2008 ASEAN ICT Expo
